The energy trade fair “The smarter E Europe”, which is an important innovation hub for new energy solutions, dedicating itself to all topics relevant for the industry, took place in Munich in June. Our member Axiotherm GmbH presented their kraftBoxx (https://www.kraftboxx.de), a thermal energy storage unit they developed with klara energy systems gmbh. The kraftBoxx uses latent storage technology for heating and hot water and has a significantly higher energy storage capacity than conventional systems. This efficient power-to-heat solution increases heat capacity without taking up additional space.

The panel of judges was impressed with the unit’s high energy-storage capacity, which makes it ideal for sector coupling in single-family homes. Comprising a latent heat accumulator, an electrothermal station, a fresh water station and an intelligent controller, the modular and scalable system enables the use of surplus solar power for heating purposes and increases the proportion of self-consumption. For this, Axiotherm received this year’s smarter E AWARD 2019 in the category “Smart Renewable Energy”. Congratulations!
